Arkoma Lady Mustangs go 1-2 in Class A regional, but season ends

RATTAN — The Arkoma Lady Mustangs went 1-2 at last week’s Class A Regional Tournament, but their season came to an end with the two defeats to end their season at 9-10.
Arkoma beat Wright City 2-0 in 11 innings in a loser’s-bracket game, but opened the tournament with a 10-3 loss to Rattan and ended their season with a 4-3 nine-inning loss to Keota.

Cameron boys see fall baseball season end with regional losses to Roff, host Crowder

CROWDER — The fall baseball season came to an abrupt halt Friday afternoon for the Cameron Yellowjackets as they suffered two losses in the Class A Regional Tournament, losing 11-0 to Roff and 4-2 to host Crowder.
The ’Jackets ended the season at 13-13.

Matha Ann Odom, 80, of Poteau died Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, in Fort Smith, Ark.
Matha was born July 28, 1934, in Latham to John G. and Lois (Sulivant) Bowden. She was a retired secretary for the county superintendent of schools. Matha was a faithful member of Southside Baptist Church. She loved to play card games (Hand and Foot). Matha was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved spending time with her kids and grandkids. She was always there when you needed her.

SPIRO — Both LeFlore County softball teams who were in the Class 3A Regional Tournament had a shot at winning the regional title and making this week’s state tournament. However, in the end, neither made it.
The Heavener Lady Wolves lost in the winner-take-all regional finals game 8-3 to the Sequoyah-Tahlequah Lady Indians after beating them 7-2 in the first title game.
The Lady Wolves eliminated regional host Spiro 8-7 after the Lady Bulldogs beat the Lady Wolves 7-1 in Friday afternoon’s opening-round game.

Whitesboro girls end fall as regional runners-up, fall in finals to Caney

CANEY — The season ended for the Whitesboro Lady Bulldogs, but did so in a fairly positive way as they lost in the Class B Regional Tournament finals 6-2 to the host Caney Lady Cougars on Saturday. The third-ranked Lady Cougars beat the Lady Bulldogs 11-3 on Friday, but the Lady Bulldogs came back with an 11-1 win over the Pittsburg Lady Panthers on Friday and upset the 17th-ranked Coleman Lady Wildcats 2-0 in Saturday’s loser’s-bracket finals.

Panama girls lose regional final to host Oktaha; Lady ’Backs eliminate Pocola in loser's-bracket final

OKTAHA — Two LeFlore County softball teams saw their seasons end at the Class 2A Regional Tournament last week.
The Panama Lady Razorbacks fell 5-1 to host Oktaha in the regional finals Friday afternoon. The Lady ’Backs won the Class 2A State Tournament in October 2011 with a 1-0 victory over the Lady Tigers.
The Lady ’Backs reached the regional final by knocking off the archrival Pocola Lady Indians 6-3 Thursday afternoon before the rains came. Both teams began the tournament facing each other on Tuesday, with the Lady Indians rallying late for a 4-3 victory.

BREAKING NEWS: 2 escape from LeFlore County prison

Two men are being sought by officials from the Jim E. Hamilton Correctional Center after their reported escape.
According to law enforcement 27-year-old John Sellers and 35-year-old Gregory Bonds were reported missing at about 8:30 p.m.
Sellers is described as a black male, 6 foot, 251 lbs. With black hair, brown eye with tattoos: teardrop on his left cheek; PITTS on his right hand; multiple tattoos on his arms and left hand; and six gold teeth.

Wister girls state bound once more; Lady Wildcats beat regional-host Wyandotte twice for championship; sophomore pitcher eclipses 300K mark for season, no-hits Colcord Lady Hornets

WYANDOTTE — Last spring, the Wister Lady Wildcats went to the Class 3A Slow-Pitch State Tournament. This week, they’ll be going to the fast-pitch state tournament.
The Lady Wildcats beat the Wyandotte Lady Bears twice on Saturday, 3-2 and 4-2, in the championship round to win the Class 2A Regional Tournament. The Lady Bears beat the Lady ’Cats 6-0 in eight innings in Friday night’s winner’s-bracket finals to put Wister into the loser’s bracket.

Poteau girls swept by Broken Bow in district tournament to end season

BROKEN BOW — The Poteau Lady Pirates softball team saw its season come to a close Wednesday afternoon as they were swept by the host Broken Bow Lady Savages by scores of 4-0 and 1-0 in the Class 4A District Tournament.
The Lady Pirates finish the season at 12-25.
