BOKOSHE — Keota's Jace Welch had a whopping 46 points as the Lions tamed the Bokoshe Tigers by a score of 74-55 Thursday night at Bokoshe Tigers Fieldhouse.
The Lions, who led 19-14 after a period, outscored the Tigers 22-12 in the second quarter to take a 41-26 halftime lead. Then, Keota outscored Bokoshe 33-29 in the second half to perserve the road victory.
Leflore 57, Buffalo Valley 29: On Nadine Carpenter Court in Leflore, the Savages jumped out to a 9-5 lead after a period, which became 21-14 at halftime and 42-23 after three quarters.

BOKOSHE — The Bokoshe Lady Tigers made it 2-for-2 so far this week, with Friday's road game against Panama left, as they posted a 45-34 victory over the Keota Lady Lions on Thursday night at Bokoshe Tigers Fieldhouse.
The Lady Tigers, who trailed 22-16 at halftime, outscored the Lady Lions 14-2 in the third quarter to take a 30-24 lead into the final period.
Leflore 57, Buffalo Valley 46: On Nadine Carpenter Court in Leflore, the Lady Savages, who trailed 13-11 after a period, outscored the Lady Buffaloes 22-5 in the second quarter to take a 33-18 halftime lead.

The LeFlore County Soccer Association’s spring 2015 registration is now opened. Registration closes Monday. There will be a coaches meeting is Feb. 17.
Practices will start the week of Feb. 19, with games starting Feb. 28.

The second annual Hungry Like the Wolf 5k/10k fun run/walk and two-mile walk will take place beginning at noon Feb. 21 at Blues Park in Heavener. Race-day registration and packet pick-up will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Packets may also be picked up from 3 to 4 p.m. Friday at Heavener High School.

Four football players, Talihina coach make East All-State team roster; Keota running back also makes team; Poteau DL, Talihina running back among East alternates

Four LeFlore County high school football players and a coach got the ultimate honor earlier this month when they were named to the East All-State Football Team for the 2015 All-State Game, which will take place July 31 in the Tulsa metropolitan area to cap off All-State Week.

CASC teams split home games with Redlands; Carl Albert teams at home Monday night against NEO

Behind 48.1-percent shooting from the field and four double-figure scorers, the Carl Albert State College Lady Vikings won 86-80 over the Redlands Community College Lady Cougars on Thursday night at Mick Thompson Fieldhouse.
Getting 18 points from Markell French wasn’t enough for the Vikings in their 74-68 loss to the Cougars in Thursday night’s second contest.
The CASC teams will return to action Monday night with home games against Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College at Mick Thompson Fieldhouse. The women’s game will be at 6 p.m., followed by the men’s contest at 8 p.m. 

Friday’s Cameron games canceled

Friday night’s Cameron High School basketball games at McCurtain were canceled due to illness.
The games will be made up next Friday night, with the girls playing at 6:30 p.m. and the boys at 8 p.m.
Tuesday’s Cameron home games with Howe that were canceled due to illness will be played Monday night in Cameron, with the girls contest at 6:30 p.m. and the boys game at 8 p.m.

Olen Wesley Heflin

Olen Wesley Heflin, 82, of Wister died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015, in Fort Smith, Ark. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2, at First Baptist Church in Wister with burial in Maxey Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Evans and Miller Funeral Home in Poteau.

Carla Donna Elliott

Donna Elliott, 60, of Cameron died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015, in Fort Smith, Ark.

She was born April 18, 1954, at Kansas City, Kan., to Lee L. and Dorothy G. (Bennett) Shannon. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Donna was foremost a homemaker, however she had many talents and had worked in a variety of jobs over the years.

She was a dental assistant, the friendly face who checked you out at M&M Garden Center and she worked for the OSU Extension Service, to name a few. She was a member of Eastern Star, Belle Point Quilt Guild and OHCE.

David Alan Hall, 41, of Wister died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015, in Tulsa.
No service is scheduled at this time. Grace Manor Funeral Home of Poteau is handling arrangements.
