GLENN MOLLETTE: Remember Alison Parker and Adam Ward, not the killer

August 27, 2015

WDBJ-TV Virginia television reporters Alison Parker and Adam Ward were executed while doing their jobs. They were good people who were successful at what they did and loved their work.

MARK CARDOZA: Who controls your retirement funds:
You or the government?

August 13, 2015

People make a mistake when they feel as though they’ve lost control of their qualified retirement plans – they never had control in the first place, says retirement advisor Mark Cardoza.
“Qualified retirement funds – whether we’re talking about an IRA, 401(k), Contributory or Defined Benefit Pension Plan, or a Roth IRA – has so many hazards, pitfalls and strings attached to the government that it’s simply misguided to think one has ‘control’ over that money,” says Mark Cardoza, author of the book “Positioning 4 Retirement.” (

GLENN MOLLETTE: President Jimmy Carter is still working and work will save this nation

August 13, 2015

America is only as good as our workers and doers. Dreamers are critical. Faith is vital. However, faith and dreams without works are dead.

JOHN GOODMAN: What does Uber medicine look like?

August 3, 2015

Uber is completely revolutionizing the market for urban transportation. Could a similar revolution occur in other fields, including the market for medical care? That’s what University of Chicago economist John Cochrane wondered the other day. But we no longer have to speculate. Uber medicine has already arrived.
There are a number of firms that will bring a doctor to your doorstep at the flick of a cell phone app, including Doctors Making House Calls (North Carolina), Pager (New York City), Heal (Los Angeles) and Medicast (Seattle).

GLENN MOLLETTE: Little Americans

July 20, 2015

I just became a grandfather!  My new grandson was born early in the morning on July 16.  Wow, did you hear me?  This is all amazing stuff.  This cuddly little seven and a half pound sleeping burrito does amazing stuff like yawning and occasionally even opens his eyes!  This little guy fits my arms like a tailor made glove.  Surely God blessed his beautiful mom and dad and our entire family.  Thank you God.

GLENN MOLLETTE: Donald Trump's Tone, Problem and Wussies

July 9, 2015

Donald Trump has one problem. He is not a career politician.
Career politicians have learned the art of being big wussies. They know how to talk out of both sides of their mouths. They know how to keep the special interest groups happy while making backroom deals with lobbyists loaded with campaign fund cash. Career politicians know Mohammed Ali's rope a dope trick that Hilary recently used on some journalists. Although Ali used that trick to whip the snot out of George Forman in Zaire, Hilary used the rope to dodge, run and hide from nasty journalistic blows in Gorham, New Hampshire.

JOHN WHITEHEAD: Prisons Without Walls: We’re All Inmates in the American Police State

June 30, 2015

“Free worlders” is prison slang for those who are not incarcerated behind prison walls. Supposedly, those fortunate souls live in the “free world.” However, appearances can be deceiving.

“As I got closer to retiring from the Federal Bureau of Prisons,” writes former prison employee Marlon Brock, “it began to dawn on me that the security practices we used in the prison system were being implemented outside those walls.” In fact, if Brock is right, then we “free worlders” do live in a prison—albeit, one without visible walls.

JOE DORMAN: It is time for a real discussion on racism

June 23, 2015

I have struggled with the right words to express my feelings over the shooting in Charleston, South Carolina. This tragedy has been heavily publicized and politicized over the past week and my frustration has grown stronger each day.
