Trayce's Thursday Thoughts

April 3, 2014

I am going to start sharing some of my thoughts with you on Thursday now and just so you all know I have never blogged before so bare with me....
I am amazed at how fast time flies now compared to when I was young and it seemed like, for instance, it took forever for me to reach 13 then 16 then 18 then 21 and now a days I can just turn around and 5 years have passed.
My daughter will have one more year before she starts high school and only yesterday in my mind she was starting her first day of kindergarten....!

KIM ROSS: Morning Mumbles

Oh what a day — can we get some sunshine please! We were teased ever so slightly with the promise of a warm sunny spring day but no — we get rain and storms instead. Uggghhh.
Anyway, Pocola and Talihina voters remember to get out and vote as today marks the election of school bonds for both districts.

I must warn area drivers that travel on old Oklahoma Highway 112, there are idiots out there. This morning seems to be a Mario Andretti day for the majority of people driving. Guess their alarm clocks failed to sound at the right time and the whole world is late.

I am sorry I have been lax in my blog the past week, but I was submerged in the biggest annual special section published by Poteau Daily News. It is complete, I have rested and I have returned with my mind intact — maybe.

Where is Malaysian flight 370? Is it possible the Bermuda Triangle struck again? Are the many passengers and flight crew flying in another time dimension? Landed only to find everything they knew is no longer?
The question remains, how do you loose such a large plane with so many people aboard?

FRANK LUCAS: Farm Bill Provides Safety Net for Producers and Consumers

March 17, 2014

Congress delivered America’s farmers, ranchers and consumers what they deserve by passing the Agricultural Act of 2014 – commonly referred to as the farm bill. This five-year comprehensive bill ensures producers have the tools they need to provide an affordable and stable food and fiber supply.

DAVID SEELEY: High School Hoops

March 15, 2014

What a high school basketball season it was for the 2013-14 campaign. LeFlore County had four teams make state — Arkoma's girls, Howe's boys and both Spiro teams.
Unfortunately, all four teams lost in the state quarterfinals. However, they were among the Elite 8 of their respective state tournament, and only eight total teams can say that.
So, congratulations to the Lady Mustangs, Lions, Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs. LeFlore County is proud of you.

"Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy," its National Donald Duck Day!
The prank-playing quackster made his screen debut in 1934 in "The Wise Little Hen."
His voice was the creation of Clarence Nash who brought vocal animation to the daring duck for 50 years.
Little did I know until I did some research that Donald is listed as the No.1 animated cartoon character to appear in films — 178 total. He also bests many comic book heros as he ranks No.5 for most published comic book character. Didn't know that either.

It has again been a busy morning in LeFlore County. An open house at Kiamichi Technology Center, run down a few crimes, progress, progress and more progress.
For those of you who don't know what progress is, it is the biggest special section published annually by Poteau Daily News. It showcases the growth and expansion of businesses, non-profit organizations, tourist attractions and many other locations in the county.
If you are a business owner and opened your doors in 2013, or if you made any changes to your existing business, give me a call. It is important to hear from you.
