Hogs give archrival LSU Tigers 'The Golden Boot' on Saturday; Razorbacks snap 17-game SEC losing streak with 17-0 win over Tigers

November 17, 2014

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas coach Bret Bielema kept telling fans to be patient, that good things were coming. At least one of those good things happened on a cold Saturday night on Frank Broyles Field at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium.
The Arkansas Razorbacks snapped their 17-game Southeastern Conference losing streak by blanking the Louisiana State University Tigers 17-0. The win not only snapped the conference winless streak, but enabled the Hogs to claim “The Golden Boot” — the trophy awarded annually to the Arkansas-LSU game victor.

Pokes flat against Texas Longhorns

November 17, 2014

Pop music duo Daryl Hall and John Oates had a song back in the 1980s on one of their albums (or CDs these days) called “Going through the Motions.” That's what Oklahoma State looked like it was doing Saturday night in its Big 12 Conference match-up against Texas at Boone Pickens Stadium in which the Cowboys fell 28-7 to the Longhorns.
The Cowboys looked lackadaisical, while the Longhorns played flawlessly. Not always as OSU had its moments, such as stuffing Texas on the first second-half drive and getting its only TD, but definitely a fair assessment overall for each team.

November 15, 2014

When the Poteau Pirates and the Oologah Mustangs met eight years ago in the playoffs, the Mustangs built up a 35-0 lead at halftime, only to see the Pirates come back and win in overtime.
When the two teams met Friday night in the Class 4A playoff opener in Oologah, the Mustangs led 28-0 at the break, but on this night Poteau’s lack of depth hurt them. So, too, did quarterback Ben Klutts’ leg injury as the Pirates saw their season end in a 42-0 loss.
