Lady Viking hoopster Savic signs with Truett McConnell College

May 21, 2014

Carl Albert State College Lady Viking Minja Savic, a 6-4 post player from Jagodina, Serbia, has signed an NAIA letter of intent with Truett McConnell College, which is located in Cleveland, Ga. — which is a member of the Appalachian Athletic Conference.
Savic is excited for the opportunity to play basketball for another two years.
“It means a lot,” Savic said. “I was sad when I tore my ACL. I didn't think that I would ever be able to play basketball again. I have a friend who plays for the Lady Bears, so I will be able to play with her again.”

May 20, 2014

PANAMA — A vineyard is what leads to producing the necessary fruits for wines. You might say that Panama has its own “Vineyard,” as in Roy Vineyard.
The longtime Panama Razorback patron was honored Friday night by having the new building that houses the concession stand and visiting football teams' dressing rooms at the south end of George Ollie Stadium named in his honor.

Things didn't end the way desired, but it was still good to see Spiro make state once again

May 20, 2014

The 2014 LeFlore County high school baseball season did not end the way desired, with the Spiro Bulldogs being crowned state champions.
However, the ’Dogs did make state for the third straight season, and for the fourth straight spring season since your's truly has been your sports editor the county has had at least one baseball team make state. That's not too bad, and I'll make a motion that we shoot for five straight in the spring of 2015.
