The 49th annual Choctaw Country Club Invitational Golf Tournament will be June 21-22. This year, there is a new format for the tournament with fourball on Day 1 and a scramble on Day 2 for the two-man teams.
Entry fee is $350 per team which includes the two rounds of golf, a practice round on June 20 and a steak dinner and entertainment on June 21.

The Mark "Mud Duck" Sullivan Youth Golf Tournament will take place at 9 a.m. June 4 at Choctaw Country Club. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. that morning.

Spiro basketball players sign letters of intent; Carter newest Viking, while Perry heading to Southern Nazarene

It was double the honor last week at the Spiro Multipurpose Gym as two Bulldogs signed basketball letters of intent.
Knifeis Carter signed with Carl Albert State College, while Timothy Perry inked with Southern Nazarene University.

Wickware, Nance win Sardis Lake tournament

The LeFlore County Bass Club had its seventh tournament of the 2014 circuit Sunday at Potato Hills South on Sardis Lake. There were 28 boats filled with anglers who caught a collective total of 75 fish that weighed a total of 195.13 pounds. The average fish weighed 2.6 pounds, and eight limits were caught.

Two Tracks, Two Nights racing card at Tri-State Speedway

POCOLA — The Two Tracks, Two Nights racing card will take place Saturday night and Sunday night at Tri-State Speedway.
Saturday night, the pit gate will open at 4 p.m., the grandstands at 5 p.m. and racing will begin at 7:30 p.m.
On Sunday night, the pit gate will open at 4 p.m. with hot laps beginning at 6 p.m.
Admission is $30 each night, plus pit pass.

Poteau girls' 3,200-meter relay gets Plainview in Meet of Champions

MOORE — The Poteau Lady Pirates' 3,200-meter relay team of Deven Bond, Haley Griggs, Sheridan Hoyer and Kandace Standridge set a school record in its state runner-up finish to Plainview in this month's Class 4A State Meet at Lions Stadium. Tuesday night at the same place, they avenged the setback.
Bond, Griggs, Hoyer and Standridge were third in the 3,200-meter relay at the Meet of Champions with a time of 9:48.88, beating state champion Plainview that finished fifth in the event (9:54.37).

The Spiro Basketball Camps will take place later this month inside the Spiro Multipurpose Gym.
The elementary school camp will be from Tuesday through Thursday and is open to students entering kindergarten through fifth grade next school year. The camp for kindergarten through second grade will take place from 9 to 11:30 a.m., while the camp for grades three through five will take place from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Cost is $30 per camper.
