That hard-earned play did not go unnoticed by the district coaches as four Mustangs got recognition on the All-District B-4 Team for 2014.

It was another banner football season in LeFlore County

December 17, 2014

As I look back on the 2014 high school football season, I happen to think it was rather successful.
Of the eight teams, four made the playoffs — Poteau (Class 4A), Spiro (Class 3A), Panama (Class 2A) and Talihina (Class A).
Two of them, Panama and Talihina, got into the second round, with the Golden Tigers making another state semifinal appearance.
So, I just want to say congratulations to you four teams.

The Pirates, who were 6-5 overall and 5-2 in District 4A-4, had 10 players make the 2014 All-District 4A-4 Team.
“We had a good group of seniors,” Poteau coach Greg Werner said. “I’m very proud of them for the work they did. I’m happy for them, all 19 of them.”
Editor’s note: Look for more local all-district stories throughout the rest of this month. The Poteau Daily News needs the All-District 3A-8, 2A-6 and A-8 all-district teams.
