October 9, 2013

It was a rough home loss last week for the Panama Razorbacks, who lost 34-0 last Friday night to the Hartshorne Miners at George Ollie Stadium. However, this week, it's a new opponent — the Antlers Bearcats — and an opportunity to rebound.
“That game is in the past, and the kids know they can't do anything about it,” Panama coach Brandon Ellis said. “We're moving forward, preparing for this game.”
The Bearcats (2-3, 0-2 in District 2A-6) will come calling on the Hogs (3-2, 1-1) at 7:30 p.m. this Friday at George Ollie Stadium.

Arkoma looks for second big road district victory Friday against Midway

October 9, 2013

The Arkoma Mustangs football team appears to be on a mission. For the second straight week, the Mustangs dominated a District C-4 opponent, with the latest being a 48-0 rout of Southwest Covenant on Friday night in Yukon.
“It was a huge road win for us,” Arkoma coach Mark Weatherton said. “They've got a good team. Our defense was fantastic. We had a couple of goal-line stands to preserve our shutout, one of them came on the first drive of the game. We executed the game play perfectly. We couldn't have played any better. It was a great win.

Poteau senior softball trio not surprised by this fall's success

October 8, 2013

With the Poteau Lady Pirates softball team reloading after losing six of its starters to graduation from last fall's team, some may have wondered if the success would still happen. It has.
The Lady Pirates have amassed a 26-8 record, five straight LeFlore County fast-pitch titles and 11 straight district titles.
“I think our chemistry has really clicked,” senior first baseman Chelsey Campbell said. “The freshmen have really helped us. Everybody has stepped up like they needed to.”

OU might have been looking ahead to Texas and almost forgot about TCU Horned Frogs

October 8, 2013

NORMAN — We should have all expected a game like this — coming right after a great win on the road at Notre Dame and right before the Red River Rivalry next Saturday at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. The Oklahoma Sooners didn’t play very well, but a win is a win at this point in the season. The Sooners are still undefeated after a lackluster 20-17 victory over
Texas Christian on Saturday night at Owen Field.
