NEO teams sweep Carl Albert; CASC teams hit the road tonight for games against Seminole State

A career-high 12 points from Acorn, Ark., player Abby Ledbetter wasn't enough for the Carl Albert State College Lady Vikings in their 66-55 loss to the Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College Lady Norse on Monday night at Mick Thompson Fieldhouse.
Frederico Santos' double-double of 22 points and 16 rebounds proved to be the difference for the NEO Golden Norsemen in their 71-61 win over the Vikings in the second game of Monday night's doubleheader.

Jefferson College hands CASC first baseball loss of 2013 season; Vikings' home game this afternoon rained out

The Carl Albert State College baseball team suffered its first loss of the 2013 season Saturday afternoon at Ival Goodman Field in its home opener. Jefferson College of Missouri came to town and left with a 16-6 victory.
The Vikings' home doubleheader this afternoon against Paris (Texas) Junior College has been rained out, and has not been rescheduled.
Last week's road twinbill against Coffeyville (Kan.) College has been rescheduled for April 9, but the site of the games have not been determined at this time.

Seven teams win away from area tournaments

Of the 15 LeFlore County high school basketball teams left in postseason play, seven of them — Poteau’s girls, Heavener’s boys, Spiro’s boys, Pocola’s boys, Talihina’s boys, Howe’s girls and Talihina’s girls — are just a win away from automatically qualifying for next week’s area tournaments.
These seven teams are in winner’s-bracket games Thursday night in their respective regional tournaments. A win will not only put them into Saturday night’s regional title games, but they will automatically qualify for going on to the area tournaments as doing no worse than being regional runners-up.

Bokoshe girls win regional tournament consolation championship on Saturday; Lady Tigers three wins from state tournament

ADA — After the Bokoshe Lady Tigers suffered a major loss to the Lomega Raiderettes on Thursday night in Paden in the Class B Regional Tournament, they knew they had two win back-to-back games in as many days to make it to this week's area tournament. Goal accomplished.
The Lady Tigers won the consolation championship game of the regional tournament with a 53-38 win over Paden on Saturday afternoon at Ada High School's Cougar Activity Center.
Bokoshe got to Saturday's consolation title game with a 76-50 rout of Milburn on Friday night at Cougar Activity Center.

Whitesboro boys fall in regional finals, but still make Class B Area Tournament; Leflore boys, Whitesboro girls lose regional consolation finals to see seasons end

WILBURTON — The Whitesboro Bulldogs basketball team knew after its dramatic comeback victory over the Kinta Eagles in Thursday night's game in the Class B Regional Tournament at Leflore that there was going to be at least one more game this week at the area tournament in Kingston.
Unfortunately for the ’Dogs, they will enter the Class B Area Tournament as regional runners-up as they suffered a 52-27 loss to the Red Oak Eagles in Saturday night's regional tournament title game at the Wilburton High School gym.

Heavener boys win district title, but girls lose to Hartshorne

HEAVENER — The Heavener High School basketball teams split their games Friday night in the Class 3A District Tournament. The Wolves beat the Hartshorne Miners 61-51, but the Lady Miners defeated the Lady Wolves 56-26.
The Wolves (17-7) will play Kansas, Okla., at 8 p.m. Thursday in the Class 3A Regional Tournament at the Muskogee Civic Center. The winner will not only advance to the 8 p.m. Saturday title game, but will also automatically qualify for next week's area tournament at Fort Gibson.

Spiro boys handle Wilburton for 3A district championship; Lady Bulldogs fall to Lady Diggers

SPIRO — The Spiro Bulldogs had little problem with the Wilburton Diggers in Saturday night's Class 3A District Tournament title game at the Spiro High School Multi-Purpose Center. The ’Dogs clawed the Diggers 87-44.
The Bulldogs (17-7), winners of 11 of their last 13 games, will play Antlers at 8 p.m. Thursday in the Class 3A Regional Tournament in Wilburton. Thursday night's winner will not only advance to the regional title game at 8 p.m. Saturday in Antlers, but will automatically qualify for next week's area tournament at Byng High School's Bill Kohler Fieldhouse.

Howe girls win district title, but Lions fall in title game to Rattan; Wister girls also regional-tournament bound, but season ends for Wildcats

WISTER — The Howe Lady Lions basketball team may not have repeated as LeFlore County Tournament champions, but they did win the first what they hope are many postseason titles.
The Lady Lions once again had a tussle with the Wister Lady Wildcats in Saturday night’s Class 2A District Tournament title game, but were able to outlast the host team for a 50-43 victory.

Pocola boys rally to get win over Sallisaw-Central for district title; Lady Tigers claw way past Panama girls in district championship; Hogs, Lady Indians see seasons end

POCOLA — The two Class 2A District Tournament title games Saturday night at the Pocola High School gym were carbon copies of themselves. Each winner used a fourth-quarter rally to claim victory.
The host Indians, who trailed 43-35 after three periods, outscored the Sallisaw-Central Tigers 20-10 in the final quarter to post a 55-53 come-from-behind victory in the boys district title game.
