PANAMA — The Panama Lady Razorbacks avenged an earlier loss to the Bokoshe Lady Tigers on Friday night, but it didn't come easy. Thanks to a second-half spurt, the Lady ’Backs downed the Lady Tigers 46-38.
Trailing 23-22 in the third quarter, the Lady Razorbacks ended the game with a 23-16 run to get the comeback victory.
Howe 68, Wister 45: In Howe, the Lady Lions roared out to a 19-8 lead after a period to take control of the game.
Talihina 46, Pocola 38: In Talihina, the Lady Golden Tigers jumped to a 21-6 lead after a period, thanks to a 9-for-14 shooting performance from the field.

HOWE — It took four extra minutes, but the Wister Wildcats were able to outlast the Howe Lions 51-50 Friday night.
Trailing 31-29 after three periods, the Wildcats outscored the Lions 16-14 in the final quarter to tie the game at 45-all at the end of regulation. In overtime, the ‘Cats outscored the Lions 6-5 to get the win.
Leflore 61, Whitesboro 58, 2 OT: In Leflore, Travis White's 3-point basket with a second left in double overtime lifted the Savages, who had not played since the LeFlore County Tournament.

It's playoff time!

It's hard to believe that the regular season is about over. The Class A and B playoffs will begin at the end of this week with district tournaments. The schedule will be part of the entire weeklong schedule at the end of this column.
At the end of next week will be the Class 2A, 3A and 4A district tournaments.

CASC teams split Saturday home games with Western

Behind a career-high 23 points from Ericka Edwards, the Carl Albert State College Lady Vikings picked up the season sweep of the Western Oklahoma State College Lady Pioneers with a 73-64 win Saturday afternoon at Mick Thompson Fieldhouse.
Despite getting 20 points from Adrion Webber, it wasn’t enough as the Western Oklahoma State College Pioneers came away with the season sweep of the Vikings with a 70-51 win Saturday night.

WHITESBORO — The Whitesboro Lady Bulldogs celebrated Senior Night with a 52-24 victory over the Panola Lady Bearcats on Thursday night at Steve Linker Gymnasium.
The Lady Bulldogs jumped to a 15-4 lead after a period and never looked back.
Ashalee Nunley and Maecie Smith played their last regular-season game on their home court.
Arkoma 59, McCurtain 45: In McCurtain, the Lady Mustangs stampeded out to a 20-9 lead after a period and never trailed.

WHITESBORO — The Whitesboro Bulldogs picked up a 58-23 win over the Panola Bearcats on Senior Night on Thursday night at Steve Linker Gymnasium.
The ’Dogs led 13-5 after a period, en route to a 28-9 halftime advantage. They took a 52-14 lead into the final period.
Five seniors, Hunter Tidwell, Quinton Ludlow, Colton Sisemore, C.J. Dean and Michelle Robatto, played their last regular-season game on their home court.

Thunder tames Grizzlies

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma City Thunder returned home from its six-game road trip to face the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday night at Chesapeake Energy Arena.
Meanwhile, the San Antonio Spurs have reeled off nine straight wins to take a one-and-a-half game lead on the Thunder (tied in the loss column) in the race for the best record in the National Basketball Association heading into Thursday night’s game.
The Thunder needed a win to keep pace with the Spurs, and to avenge a mid-November loss at home to these same Grizzlies.

Spiro seventh-grade girls beat host Pansy Kidd to win tournament

February 1, 2013

Earlier this season, the Spiro Lady Bulldogs seventh-grade basketball team defeated the Pansy Kidd Middle School Lady Raiders. The Lady Raiders had a chance to avenge that loss, and in the process take home first place in their own tournament Thursday night. It didn't quite happen.
After making a furious fourth-quarter rally, the Lady Raiders fell 35-33 to the Lady Bulldogs in the championship contest.
