Hooked on Fishin' Kids Tournament set for Saturday

May 30, 2013

The ninth Annual “Hooked On Fishing” Kids Tournament will be from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday at Long Lake Resort. There will be a hotdog bash after the tournament for all who attend.
Jacques and I will try our luck again this year, and I have a secret bait that will surely catch a few big ones! I'm always looking for new lures that some how have magical powers to fill the boat.
Save the world, recycle.
God bless our troops and veterans.
Have a great weekend.

It is time for some fishing

May 30, 2013

It looks like I may actually get to fish for one morning this summer. Chuck Restine and I are looking at going to Lake Tenkiller on Friday morning to catch a few smallmouth before heading to Pittsburg for a couple of baseball games.
Word is that they have been hammering the smallmouth, and there is nothing I like better than catching a few of those bronze beauties. With my schedule, I may not get to fish again till July, so I hope we get to go.

Poteau Pirates football team impressive in spring game

May 24, 2013

For Poteau Pirates football fans, there’s some good news and some not-so-good news.
The not-so-good news is that the strength of last year’s team, the offensive line, only returns one starter, Stephen Smith. Gone is 1,500 pounds of people movers and lane creaters.
However, the good news is Roger Barcheers, who was the 2012 All-Arklahoma Football Team’s Freshmen of the Year, had more than 1,500 yards rushing in his freshman year, and will be back for his sophomore season in the fall, as will quarterback Jace Pitchford and wide receiver Jarrett Lowrimore to name just a few.
