It's hard to come to the realization that things are about to end. Take a football career, for instance. Players such as Troy Aikman, Phil Simms and Chris Collinsworth, who are now National Football League analysts, probably hated to have to hang up their uniforms after their NFL careers ended.
One Poteau Pirate senior player probably knows that feeling. Senior defensive lineman Zack Hall is ready to end his prep career on a high note, which would be making the playoffs.
VAN BUREN, Ark. — The Poteau Bandit Football League teams went 3-1 against Van Buren Black last Saturday.
The sixth-grade (30-22), fifth-grade (24-14) and fourth-grade teams (26-14) all posted wins over Van Buren Black, but the third-graders lost 26-12.
The Poteau teams will return to action next Saturday with road games against Greenwood (Ark.) White, with games beginning at 10 a.m. with the third-grade game first followed by the fourth-grade contest, the fifth-grade game and the sixth-grade contest.

If the Talihina Golden Tigers football team's season was a television series, the climax is about to begin.
The Golden Tigers (7-0 overall, 3-0 in District A-6) will begin the stretch drive toward what they hope is a district title when they entertain the Haileyville Warriors (0-6, 0-3) at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Doc Robinson Stadium.
“We're in the driver's seat,” said Kelly Gravitt, Talihina's coach. “All we have to to is win and take care of business, and we're district champs.”
