Claborn, Faust, Knight, Vineyard on winning team at Jack Hall/Patrick Lynch Shrine Tournament

The foursome of Joe Claborn, Chris Faust, Chad Knight and Kenny Vineyard won Monday afternoon's Jack Hall/Patrick Lynch Shrine Memorial Golf Tournament at Wolf Ridge Golf Course. The team had a 53, and tied with the quartet of Josh Buchanan, Brett Hubbard, Matt McKown and Will Fogleman — who also had a 53. However, the Claborn team won a scorecard playoff for first place.
Brandon Severe, Joe Tackett, Joah Tackett and Gary McGinnis were third with a 55.
There were 61 golfers who participated in the tournament.

CASC Scholarship Golf Scramble takes place May 12 in Sallisaw

SALLISAW — The Cherokee Casino/Carl Albert State College Scholarship Golf Scramble took place May 12 at Shadow Creek Country Club.
Taking first place was the team of Marvin Thouvenel, Anthony Fornaszewski, Dalton Jasna and Paige Tolbert.
Second place went to Bill Falleur, Dale Brown, Andy Perdue, and Randall Wheat.
Trey Rogers won the prize for the longest drive, Dr. Bob Wells was closest to the pin on No. 15 and Paul Marshall was closest to the pin on No. 11.

The 2012 Poteau Pirate Red-White Scrimmage will take place at 4 p.m. Friday at Costner Stadium. The scrimmage was to have taken place at 6 p.m., but it was going to conflict with the 2012 Poteau High School Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony and banquet, which will take place at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Bob Lee Kidd Civic Center.
Admission to the game will be towels.

The Wayne Husak/Memorial Day Tournament will take place Saturday and Sunday at Choctaw Country Club.
The entry fee for the two-player scramble is $100.

Spiro baseball player signs with Carl Albert

SPIRO — One Spiro High School senior baseball player finally had his dream come true to make state. Now, Tyler Didway just had another one come true.
Didway signed with Carl Albert State College Monday morning inside Spiro High School Principal Kyle House's office.
“It's taken a lot of weight off my shoulders,” Didway said. “Now, that I'm going to get to play somewhere, I can now relax. I'm just ready to go.”
Carl Albert was really the only place the Spiro graduate was looking to go.
