Poteau Rebels rout Stilwell Cardinals in Stilwell OK Kids PeeWee Regional

STILWELL — The Poteau Rebels got off to a blazing start to begin the 2012 OK Kids PeeWee Regional Tournament on Monday. The Rebels routed the tournament's host, the Stilwell Cardinals 15-1 in three innings.
The Rebels were slated to play in the wininer's-bracket semifinals Tuesday night, with another win putting them into the winner's-bracket final at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
Things did not start well for the Rebels, however, as they fell behind 1-0 in the opening inning, but Stilwell's lead was very short lived.

Heavener Thunder win OK Kids Coach-Pitch Regional opener; Whitesboro, Wister teams suffer losses on opening day

HEAVENER — The good news on Monday night was the Heavener Thunder, the host team for the 2012 OK Kids Coach-Pitch Regional Tournament at Blues Park, won its opening-round game.
However, the not-so-good news was two other LeFlore County teams, the Whitesboro Bulldogs and the Wister Wildcats, suffered losses.
The Thunder doubled up the Hartshorme Miners 14-7 to make it to Tuesday night's winner's-bracket semifinal against the Muldrow Bulldogs, which outlasted Whitesboro 14-10. Tuesday night's winner will play in the winner's-bracket final at 8 p.m. Thursday.

Poteau Bombers do just that to Atoka Cubs in Coach-Pitch Regional

ATOKA — The Poteau Bombers lived up to their name in Monday afternoon's winner's-bracket quarterfinals of the 2012 OK Kids Coach-Pitch Regional Tournament.
The Bombers bombed the tournament-host Atoka Cubs 18-0 to advance to a Thursday winner's-bracket semifinal contest against the Caddo Bruins, who edged the Byng Red Sox earlier in the day.
The Poteau-Caddo winner will play the Vian-Coalgate winner in the winner's-bracket final at 5 p.m. Friday, with that winner making it to the 5 p.m. Saturday title game — and a win away from state.

Spiro Reds run rule Dewar Dragons, Meeker Bulldogs in Coach-Pitch OK Kids Regional

PRESTON — The Spiro Reds OK Kids Coach-Pitch baseball team could not have started the 2012 Regional Tournament any better than the way the Reds did so on Monday.
The Reds got a pair of run-rule, three-inning 13-0 victories over the Dewar Dragons and the Meeker Bulldogs.
The Reds were slated to play the Tecumseh Blackhawks Tuesday night for a berth into the 5 p.m. Friday winner's-bracket final. The ’Hawks outlasted the Henryetta Bombers 25-21.

Friday Couple Scrambles will take place at 5:30 p.m. every Friday at Wolf Ridge Golf Course.
The entry fee is $15 per person for the nine-hole weekly event.

There will be an age 8- and age 10-and-younger machine pitch softball tournament Friday through Sunday at Duncan's Hines Park.
The entry fee for the three-game guarantee event is $150 per team.
For those teams which are not registered with the Amateur Softball Association, they can do so for a fee of $25.
The deadline to enter is Thursday.

The 47th Spider Webb Two-Person Scramble Golf Tournament will take place July 14-15 at Choctaw Country Club.
The entry fee for the two-person scramble is $175 per golfer, which includes range balls and a practice round on July 13 and dinner on July 14.

Oklahoma Elite suffer first losses of tournament to be eliminated, will finish no worse than 51st out of 200 teams

ARVADA, Colo. — The Oklahoma Elite softball team, which features players from Poteau, Spiro, Smithville and Red Oak, suffered its first losses of the Triple Crown Colorado Sparkler Tournament Friday at Lutz Complex.
The Elite dropped its first game of the tournament, falling 1-0 to the Bat Blasters, then lost 5-3 to Orange County, Calif.
In Friday's loss to the Bat Blasters, the game was scoreless through six innings, when the opponent broke through with a run in the seventh inning for a 1-0 lead.
The Elite was then retired in order in the bottom of the seventh to end the game.
