The 2012 sixth annual Junior He-Man Punt, Pass and Kick Competition will take place beginning at high noon Saturday at the â€śJody Ray Sports Complex,â€ť located at 306 Strip Pit Road. There are two divisions, the L'il He-Man Division for ages 6 to 8 and Junior He-Man Division for ages 9 to 12.
SPIRO â€” If you're a football player, the first Wednesday in February is one of your favorite days â€” National Letter of Intent Signing Day. For three Spiro Bulldogs, that dream became reality.
Spiro's K.J. Booze, Tyh Hawkins and Jordan Scott signed letters of intent Wednesday morning at the Spiro Gym.
Booze signed with Dartmouth College of the Ivy League in Hanover, N.H. However, official acceptance into the famed collegiate institution does become official for any Ivy League school until April. But football players can still sign their letters of intent in February.
Nominations are currently being accepted for the 2012 Poteau High School Sports Hall of Fame.
Categories include: football, boys and girls basketball, baseball, fast-pitch and slow-pitch softball, boys and girls soccer, boys and girls track, boys and girls golf, boys and girls cross country, boys and girls all-around athlete, wrestling, coaching and support and service.

It was two for the price of one for the Poteau Pirates wrestling team Tuesday night at Sherman Floyd Fieldhouse. It was both homecoming and Senior Night as the Pirates entertained the Fort Gibson Tigers in their last dual of the season.
Things did not end so well for the Pirates as the Tigers left town 39-27 victors.
With the dual tied at 15-15, the Tigers (5-4) won matches at 145 and 152 pounds to take a 24-15 lead.
Derek Francis got the Pirates (15-7) right back into the dual with a pin at the 1:41 mark of the opening period in his 160-pound match to cut Fort Gibson's lead to 24-21.
ROLAND â€” It was a rough night of basketball for the Poteau High School teams Tuesday night as they each suffered losses. The undefeated Roland Rangers handled the Pirates 65-35, while the Lady Rangers got past the Lady Pirates 60-46.
WISTER â€” A strong third quarter enabled the Bokoshe Lady Tigers to post a 58-50 come-from-behind win over the Wister Lady Wildcats Tuesday night at the Wister Gym.
Down 25-23 at halftime, the Lady Tigers outscored the Lady â€™Cats 27-7 in the third quarter to take a 50-32 lead into the final period.
One thing which aided the Bokoshe comeback was the 3-point baskets, of which the Lady Tigers hit 11 for 33 of their 58 points.
TALIHINA â€” A strong second-half performance by the Talihina Golden Tigers enabled them to win going away by a score of 61-41 over the Heavener Wolves Tuesday night on Chris Gillespie Court at Ray Henson Gymnasium.
Leading 22-21 at halftime, the Golden Tigers outscored the Wolves 39-20 in the second half.
Wister 44, Bokoshe 15: In Wister, the Wildcats jumped out to a 16-1 lead on the Tigers after one period to take charge of the contest.
The Wister baseball team is selling tickets to a Redhawks game on June 23. It is a part of a deal that will allow them to play in Bricktown Ballpark against the Elgin Owls on March 9. CAMERON â€” In a LeFlore County match-up on the hardwood Monday night at the Cameron Gym, both Panama and Cameron fans had reasons to celebrate.
In the girls' game, the Lady Razorbacks got past the Lady Yellowjackets 29-19, but the host â€™Jackets took the boys' contest over the Hogs with a 53-34 victory during Cameron High School's â€śPink Out Games.â€ť
TALIHINA â€” The Talihina Lady Golden Tigers made it a happy homecoming Friday night on Chris Gillespie Court at Ray Henson Gymnasium. But it didn't come easy.
The Lady Golden Tigers had to rally from a first-quarter deficit, then go into overtime before disposing of the visiting Stigler Lady Panthers 50-40.
