Guards propel CASC women past Eastern, but Vikings fall to No. 14 Mountaineers

WILBURTON — Behind aggressive guard play and forcing the Eastern Oklahoma State College Lady Mountaineers into 24 turnovers, the Carl Albert State College Lady Vikings won 62-59 on Monday night at Claud C. Dunlap Fieldhouse.
Despite having five double-figure scorers, the CASC Vikings lost 88-73 to the 14th-ranked EOSC Mountaineers in the second game on Monday night.
The CASC teams will return to action Thursday night in El Reno against Redlands Community College. The women's game will begin at 6 p.m., followed by the men's contest at 8 p.m.

ARKOMA — A strong second half enabled the Cameron Yellowjackets to defeat the Arkoma Mustangs 65-48 Monday night at the Arkoma Gym.
Wister 53, Bokoshe 7: In Bokoshe, the Wildcats (9-5) jumped out to a 19-3 lead after one period to take control of the game.

BOKOSHE — Down by as much as seven points, the Bokoshe Lady Tigers used a strong second half, and a stronger fourth quarter in particular, to rally for a 45-40 come-from-behind victory over the Wister Lady Wildcats Monday night at Bokoshe Tigers Fieldhouse.
Arkoma 49, Cameron 29: In Arkoma, the Lady Mustangs (10-2) jumped out to a 14-4 lead after one period and never looked back.

Spiro boys lose Muskogee Shrine Classic championship contest to Oktaha, while Lady Bulldogs win third-place game

MUSKOGEE — The Spiro Bulldogs were dethroned as champions of the Muskogee Bedouin Shrine Classic Saturday night as they lost the title game of the small school division 64-48 to the Oktaha Tigers.
The ’Dogs (7-3) made it to Saturday night's championship game with an 81-72 overtime win over the Haskell Haymakers in a rematch of last season's championship game which was won by Spiro.
The Lady Bulldogs took third place with a 48-40 win over the Hulbert Lady Riders Saturday morning. Spiro (6-4) lost in the championship semifinals 68-62 to the Oktaha Lady Tigers on Friday.

Whitesboro girls, Leflore boys get third place at Rock Island Conference Shootout; Bulldogs claim consolation championship by ending event with two-game winning streak

The Whitesboro Lady Bulldogs and the Leflore Savages claimed third-place plaques Saturday afternoon at the Rock Island Conference Shootout at the new Wilburton Gym.
The Lady Bulldogs defeated the Leflore Lady Savages 50-24, while the Savages beat the Panola Bearcats 53-44.
The Lady Bulldogs, who got a bye in the opening round on Thursday, lost Friday night in the championship semifinals to the Clayton Lady Bulldogs at Red Oak High School's C.C. Gillespie Fieldhouse.
The Savages lost in the championship semifinals 32-26 to the Kinta Eagles Friday night at the Leflore Gym.

Despite slow start, Hogs down ’Cats to win Cotton Bowl

ARLINGTON, Texas — The Arkansas Razorback offense started slow in several games this season and Friday night's 76th annual Cotton Bowl Classic against the Kansas State Wildcats was no different. The Hogs fought through some early adversity and eventually came out on top winning the game handily 29-16.

Poteau wrestler takes third at Cushing Tournament

CUSHING — Poteau Pirate wrestler Tyler Tustin placed third at 132 pounds at this past weekend's Cushing Tournament, in what second-year Poteau Coach Chris Barbee called “the toughest tournament in the state.”
“Here's how tough it was at this weight (132 pounds),” Barbee said. “There were three state champions, Tyler, one from Class 5A and one from Class 3A. There were nine state placers and four state qualifiers. He wrestled really well, but he had one bad match and lost in the semifinals to the kid from Comanche. As a whole, he wrestled pretty good.”

Talihina girls lose title contest to Washington at Longhorn Invitational; Golden Tigers take third-place game over Wilson

LONE GROVE — The Talihina Lady Golden Tigers suffered through foul trouble and the loss of injured player Tara Hawkins as they lost 47-33 to the Washington Lady Warriors in the title game of the Longhorn Invitational Tournament Saturday night at the Gary Scott Center.
The Lady Golden Tigers (8-2) won their championship semifinal game 37-34 over the Healdton Lady Bulldogs Friday night.
