I had my best bass fishing week ever

July 11, 2012

The fishing is heating up, along with the weather. I have actually had time to take my boat out to get after some big ol' bass.
This week was my best bass fishing week of my life, as far as size of fish caught is concerned — including my personal best of six pounds.
Saturday morning, Dan Carter and I headed to a private lake at daylight to try our luck. During the first hour, we fished with topwater poppers and caught a few small fish before heading to the deep water in the middle of the lake.

WEATHERFORD — The Heavener Thunder OK Kids Coach-Pitch baseball team opened the 2012 State Tournament in fine fashion Tuesday afternoon at Rader Park as they routed the Sallisaw Titans 17-4.
The Thunder will meet Tuttle at 7:45 p.m. tonight in the winner's-bracket semifinals.
However, two other local teams got beat by rain as the Wister Wildcats OK Preps team at Chandler and the Poteau Pirates OK Kids Midget team at Elk City were both rained out on opening day of state on Tuesday.

Wister Wildcats runners-up at Preps Regional, state bound

July 9, 2012

WISTER — The bad news was the Wister Wildcats OK Kids prep baseball team lost a heartbreaking regional title game Friday night to the Stilwell Angels. The good news is the Wildcats are still state bound.
After the Angels scored twice in their the sixth inning to force extra innings, they scored once in the seventh inning to take a 3-2 victory in the 2012 OK Kids Regional Tournament at the Wister High School baseball field. The Angels (champions) and the Wildcats (runners-up) will both be at the 2012 OK Kids Preps State Tournament, which will begin today in Chandler.
