Hogs can only think what might have been against Tide

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Arkansas Razorbacks can only think what might have been in Saturday’s home game with the Alabama Crimson Tide at Frank Broyles Field at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium.
The Razorbacks played one of their best Southeastern Conference games in a while, and frankly outplayed the Crimson Tide in all aspects of the game — except the most important one, the scoreboard, as the Tide left town 14-13 victors.

The 2014-15 Poteau Buccaneer Basketball League will begin its season soon. Anyone wishing to coach a team needs to call Billy Bond at (918) 647-1939 or by e-mail at parcball@windstream.net for additional information.
There will be a coaches meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Poteau City Hall.
If enough coaches are signed up for each age group, the draft for the upcoming season will take place at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 29, also at Poteau City Hall.

Poteau cross country runners participate in Owasso Invitational

OWASSO — The Poteau High School cross country runners participated in the Owasso Invitational on Thursday.
The Lady Pirates were 15th with 384 points. The Bartlesville Lady Bruins won the team title with 31 points.
The highest finisher for the Lady Pirates was Savannah Yim, who was 69th (25:44). Maddison Williamson was 72nd (25:48), Emma Sandstoe was 89th (27:04), Kenzi Brown was 113th (29:04) and Sheridan Hoyer was 115th (29:22).

Turnovers doom Heavener against Stigler

STIGLER — Just like in their District 3A-8 opener two weeks ago against Eufaula, turnovers doomed the Heavener Wolves.
Three second-half turnovers led to three Stigler touchdowns as the Panthers clawed the Wolves 32-6 in a district game Friday night.

Panama Razorbacks 'Foyil' Panthers

Panama Razorbacks foiled the homestanding Foyil Panthers 40-2 in a non-district game Friday night in Foyil.
"We played well in the first quarter," Panama coach Brandon Ellis said.
The Razorbacks (4-2) scored four touchdowns in the first quarter, then “... in the second quarter we kind of fell apart and they scored a safety on us," Ellis said.
