Wister boys use buzzer beater to beat Howe to claim district title; Lady Lions district champs over Lady Wildcats; Lions, Wister girls win elimination games

February 22, 2012

WISTER — If a team has only one lead in a game, that squad hopes it comes at the final buzzer. That wish became true for the Wister Wildcats basketball team Saturday night at the Wister Gym in the Class 2A District Tournament.
Wister's Cody Luman scored a basket as time expired as the Wildcats downed the Howe Lions 42-41 to win the district title.
The girls' title game did not have such a suspenseful ending as the Lady Lions roared right past the Lady Wildcats 74-36 to win the district championship.

February 22, 2012

This wasn’t the case, however, as the Thunder took a 60-38 lead at the break and cruised to a 101-93 victory.
