Heavener girls win Twin Rivers Shootout

GORE — The Heavener Lady Wolves softball team capped off a successful weekend by winning the Twin Rivers Shootout Saturday afternoon by beating the Porum Lady Panthers 10-0 in the title game.
The Lady Wolves opened the tournament with w 20-3 rout of the Gans Grizzlies and a 13-5 win over the Lady Panthers in the winner's-bracket finals.

Cameron boys come in third at Crowder Tournament; Panama boys lose in consolation semifinals

CROWDER — The Cameron Yellowjackets baseball team won the third-place game of the Crowder Tournament with a 5-3 victory over the Hartshorne Miners on Saturday afternoon.
The ’Jackets lost in Friday night's championship semifinal to Class 3A's high-ranked Eufaula Ironheads by a score of 10-0.
The Panama Razorbacks were eliminated from the tournament with a 17-4 loss to the Muldrow Bulldogs on Friday.

FORT GIBSON — In a pair of crucial district games for the Poteau High School soccer teams, both came up short Friday night. In a battle of highly-ranked teams, the Tigers got past the Pirates 3-1, while the Lady Tigers handled the Lady Pirates 6-0.
The Lady Pirates will be at home at 5 p.m. today to face Keys (Park Hill) at Costner Stadium.

Thunder beat Bulls to move to within a game of league's best

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma City Thunder faced the National Basketball Association’s best team, the Chicago Bulls, at home Sunday afternoon in a nationally-televised game on ABC. The Thunder, riding a six-game win streak, had already defeated the Miami Heat and the Los Angeles Lakers in the past four games, and is vying for the best record in the NBA.
Oklahoma City, in front of yet another sellout crowd, led from start to finish as they easily defeated Chicago 92-78.
The Thunder defense played really well, holding the Bulls to just 78 points on 32-percent shooting.

Top seeds at Wister Tournament all win to make semifinal games; Talihina pitcher has perfect three-inning game

WISTER — Run-rule games were the order of the day and night on the opening day of the Wister Tournament on Thursday.
Tournament-host Wister defeated Howe 9-0 in a game stopped after four innings, which was followed by an 8-0, five-inning, run-rule win for the Red Oak Eagles over the Keota Lions.
In the night session, Talihina blanked Hartford, Ark., 12-0 in three innings, then the Whitesboro Bulldogs run ruled the Heavener Wolves 10-2 in five innings.

CROWDER — The Cameron Yellowjackets made it to Friday's championship semifinals with a 3-2 come-from-behind win over the Muldrow Bulldogs Thursday afternoon in the Crowder Tournament.
The ’Jackets were in the semifinals Friday night with the chance at playing for the championship at 4 p.m. this afternoon against the winner of Friday's other semifinal between Wilburton and Hartshorne. A loss tonight will drop them into the third-place game against the Wilburton-Hartshorne loser at 2 p.m. this afternoon.

WISTER — The Wister Lady Wildcats and the Whitesboro Lady Bulldogs posted wins over the Spiro Lady Bulldogs in Thursday's three-way.
The Lady ’Cats held off Spiro 9-8, while Whitesboro beat Spiro 9-1 in a battle of Lady Bulldogs. Whitesboro and Wister played a junior varsity game.
In Wister's win over Spiro, the Lady Wildcats broke an 8-8 tie with a run in the sixth inning on Kylee Carpenter's RBI single to get the win.
In Whitesboro's win over Spiro, after single runs in the first two innings, Whitesboro broke open the game with a six-run third inning for an 8-0 lead.
