Wister boys dominate field to win Class A District Tournament; Wildcat pitcher throws no-hitter in title game

WISTER — The Wister Wildcats baseball team began its first step toward a four-peat as far as trips to state are concerned.
Friday afternoon in the Class A District Tournament, the ’Cats handled the Crowder Demons 17-0 in three innings to win the title.
The Wildcats pretty much dominated their two games on Thursday, beating Crowder 10-0 and Howe 16-1.
The Lions were the first team eliminated from the tournament, losing a hard-fought 10-8 game to the Demons.

Cameron boys reach Class A District Tournament title game

PRESTON — The Cameron Yellowjackets may have celebrated Friday night being the Class A District Tournament champions in Oktaha.
After having Day 1's games moved twice — first from host Oktaha to Cameron, then on to Preston — the Yellowjackets came away with two wins, beating Okay 11-1 and host Oktaha 8-3.
The ’Jackets (20-7) played for the district title Friday night in Oktaha. If they lost they will play a second title game sometime today.

Panama girls take two from Pocola to win district tournament

PANAMA — The Panama Lady Razorbacks took the first step toward a trip to state as they swept the Pocola Lady Indians by scores of 3-0 and 12-2 to win the Class 2A District Tournament Friday afternoon.
The Lady ’Backs (22-9) will find out Monday where, when and who they will play in next week's Class 2A Regional Tournament.
The Lady Indians saw their season end at 11-13.

Spiro girls handle Stigler to claim Class 3A District Tournament

SPIRO — The Spiro Lady Bulldogs began their postseason parade in style Friday afternoon by sweeping the Stigler Lady Panthers 5-0 and 12-1 to win the Class 3A District Tournament.
The Lady Bulldogs (18-7) will find out on Monday who, when and where they will play in next week's Class 3A Regional Tournament.

Heavener girls sweep Eufaula to win district title

HEAVENER — A year ago, the Stigler Lady Panthers stunned the Heavener Lady Wolves on their home field to win the Class 3A District Tournament. The Lady Wolves made sure that did not happen this year.
The Lady Wolves swept the Eufaula Lady Ironheads by scores of 8-0 and 9-0 Thursday to win the Class 3A District Tournament.
Heavener (26-8) will find out Monday afternoon where, who and when they will play in the Class 3A Regional Tournament.

Leflore girls lose to Red Oak in Class B District Tournament

RED OAK — The season came to an end for the Leflore Lady Savages as they suffered a pair of 12-0 losses to the Red Oak Lady Eagles Friday afternoon.
The Lady Savages (3-10) only had one base-runner all tournament long as Taylor Lloyd got to first base on a walk.
Candis Crawford (1-9) suffered the Game 1 loss, while Lindsey Mote (2-1) suffered her first loss of the season in Game 2.

Whitesboro girls see season end at district tournament

BATTIEST — The Whitesboro Lady Bulldogs saw their season end with a pair of losses in the Class B District Tournament Friday afternoon.
The Lady Bulldogs suffered shutouts against host Battiest and Eagletown. They ended their season at 1-14.

Poteau cross country teams 13th at Tulsa Washington Invitational

TULSA — The Poteau High School cross country teams both finished 13th at Thursday afternoon's Tulsa Washington Invitational at O'Brian Park.
Two Lady Pirates medaled as Deven Bond was 14th (13:56) and Sheridan Hoyer was 17th (14:07). Samantha Galetka ran a 15:55, followed by Shandee Staton (16:48) and Katie Piquet (16:55).

Wister girls sweep Talihina to win 2A District Tournament

WISTER — The Wister Lady Wildcats softball team punched its ticket to next week's Class 2A Regional Tournament.
The Lady Wildcats swept the Talihina Lady Golden Tigers by scores of 13-9 and 3-0 in the Class 2A District Tournament on Wednesday.
The Lady ’Cats (20-12) will find out early next week who, where and when they will play in the regional tournament.
The Lady Golden Tigers (13-12) saw their season come to an end.

Rain postpones Thursday's high school softball playoffs, rescheduled for today

Mother Nature was the winner at several high school softball district tournaments on Thursday.
Rain washed out several high school playoff games, making them rescheduled for today.
The Class 2A District Tournament with Pocola at Panama was rained out Thursday, and will be rescheduled for a doubleheader at 10 a.m. this morning. Panama Coach and Athletic Director Grant Ralls said that if a third game is needed it would be played on Saturday.
