I wish we could say it started out as a dream, but it didn’t. It all started out as a way to harness the energy of a very rambunctious 4-year old. Ashby Clark wasn’t untrained or disobedient. He was just busy and creative.
This creativity and strategy in thinking, and abundance of energy is what led to the dream.

Archey, Fairless win He-Man Polar Bear Classic on Broken Bow Lake

The fifth annual He-Man Polar Bear Classic took place Saturday at Grasshopper Landing on Broken Bow Lake.
Bryce Archey and Eric Fairless won the tournament with 16.64 pounds caught, which included Fairless' big bass weighing 6.05 pounds. The duo earned $200, with Fairless earning an extra $40 for the big bass winner.
Randy Martin and Bucky McGee were runners-up (5.41 pounds), while “Team He-Man” comprised of Ed and Mike Sockey, Jody Adams and Jeff Roberts were third (4.02).

Faith Community Nazarene Church is getting ready for this year’s Upward Sports basketball and cheerleading league.
Saturday will be the final day to register for either or both leagues. Registration will take place in hour-long sessions on Saturday morning inside the Pansy Kidd Middle School Gym. The kindergarten 4s and 5s will register from 9 to 10 a.m., followed by the first- through third-graders from 10 to 11 a.m. and the fourth- through sixth-graders from 11 a.m. to noon.

Poteau teams split home contests with Muldrow on Tuesday night

The Poteau High School basketball teams split their home games Tuesday night with Muldrow. The Pirates made the Bulldogs walk the plank in a 60-42 victory, but the Lady Bulldogs downed the Lady Pirates 49-40.

WISTER — The Wister Wildcats picked up a home win Tuesday night, downing the Arkoma Mustangs 65-47
The Wildcats broke a 21-all halftime tie by outscoring the Mustangs 21-10 in the third quarter to take a 42-31 lead into the final period.
Howe 63, Panama 50: In Howe, the Lions jumped out to a 13-9 lead after a period en route to a 28-20 halftime advantage and a 46-37 lead going into the final quarter.
