Whitesboro hoopsters open season tonight at home against Smithville

The Whitesboro High School basketball teams will begin their 2014-15 season tonight with home games against Smithville. The girls game will be at 6:30 p.m., followed by the boys contest at 8 p.m.

INDIANOLA — The 2014-15 high school basketball season got off on the right foot, and in A big way, for the Leflore Savages on Saturday night as they won their opener 96-40 over Indianola.
The Savages jumped out to a 31-10 lead after a period and never looked back.
Red Oak 75, Wister 24: At Red Oak’s C.C. Gillespie Fieldhouse, the Eagles jumped out to a 22-7 lead after a period to take control of the game.

INDIANOLA — A fast start by the Leflore Lady Savages helped opening night be a successful one as they routed Indianola 57-22 in Saturday night’s season opener.
The Lady Savages jumped out to a 23-4 lead after a period to take control of the game.
Red Oak 63, Wister 36: At Red Oak’s C.C. Gillespie Fieldhouse, the Lady Eagles flew out to a 25-8 lead after a period and never looked back.

Poteau runner places at Class 4A State Meet

EDMOND — Poteau junior Kandace Standridge was trying to get a second state championship this calendar year. However, it didn’t work out that way.
Standridge, who won the 800-meter run state title in May, finished 20th at the Class 4A State Cross Country Meet, which took place Saturday at Edmond Santa Fe High School. She ran the course in 12:49.9.

Lady Vikings split games in NorthArk Classic

Playing hard on both ends of the floor for 40 minutes was the difference for the Carl Albert Sate College Lady Vikings in their impressive 114-68 win over Mid-South College in the second and final game of the Northern Arkansas College Classic on Saturday afternoon in Harrison, Ark.
Despite having three players in double-figures, it wasn't enough for the Lady Vikings in the a season-opening 76-63 loss to the host North Arkansas Lady Pioneers on Friday night.

CASC Vikings lose final two games in Classic

Despite having five double-figure scorers, it wasn't enough as the Carl Albert State College Vikings lost 101-81 to Dallas Diesel in the third and final day of the Midwest Scouting Service Challenge on Sunday afternoon in Plano, Texas.
A strong first half offensively and a 52-39 lead at halftime proved to be the difference for Midland, Texas, in its 92-81 win over the Vikings on Saturday afternoon.
The Vikings will play their home opener against the Bacone College junior varsity at 8 p.m. Thursday at Mick Thompson Fieldhouse to celebrate homecoming.

Poteau freshmen win finale; PKMS seventh-graders cap perfect season; eighth-grade Raiders don’t see much action in ninth-grade contest

Fort Smith [Ark.] Trinity Junior High’s team consists of eighth- and ninth-grade players. The Pirates had both their teams suited out. Both sides agreed to match respective teams, but in all reality that never happened in Thursday’s season finale in Fort Smith. The Pirates won the game 20-14.

Webbers Falls spoils Senior Night for Bokoshe

BOKOSHE — After winning the first District C-4 game in more than four years last week, the Bokoshe Tigers were trying for two straight wins, and celebrate Senior Night in a grand fashion. Unfortunately, it didn't happen as the Webbers Falls Warriors came to town and left Tiger Stadium with a 42-20 win.
