CASC baseball team signs second player in as many days; DeKalb athlete signs with Vikings Tuesday afternoon

For the second straight day, the Carl Albert State College Vikings baseball team signed another out-of-state player.
Logan Crouch from DeKalb, Texas, signed a letter of intent in a signing ceremony Tuesday afternoon inside Mick Thompson Fieldhouse. The Vikings signed Farmington [Ark.] High School product Jacob Thompson on Monday afternoon.

Panama Softball Tournament’s start not happening until Thursday; rain showers wash out event’s start for second straight day

For the second straight day, the 2014 Panama Summer Softball League Postseason Tournament was rained out on Tuesday. The original opening-day slate of games on Monday was also rained out.
The event has now been made into a two-day event, with the title game slated for 7:45 p.m. Friday with the if-game at 9 p.m.

Carl Albert State College baseball coach Mark Pollard and assistant coach Tyler Guthrie are trying to change the “appearance” of the future of the Vikings baseball program. Both believe they did so with the signing of Jacob Thompson.
Thompson, a Farmington [Ark.] High School product, signed a college letter of intent with the Vikings in a signing ceremony Monday afternoon inside Mick Thompson Fieldhouse.

The Poteau Pirates, an age 14-and-younger softball team, will have a fundraising brown bag lunch from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Poteau High School parking lot. The brown bag lunch will consist of a hamburger/cheeseburger, chips and a drink for $6. All proceeds will help the team fund its trip to the state tournament later this summer.

There will be a junior golf clinic beginning Wednesday at Wolf Ridge Country Club for youth ages 5 and older.
The clinic for ages 5 to 17 will be from 4 to 5 p.m. every Wednesday for the next four weeks. Cost is $10 per golfer per session.

Panama softball player on winning team in Saturday’s All-State Game; Slow-Pitch All-State Game next Saturday

EDMOND — Panama’s Stephanie Barcheers was on the winning team in the 2014 Oklahoma Fast-Pitch Softball Coaches Association’s Small School All-State Game on Saturday at Oklahoma Christian University of Science and Arts.
Barcheers, a Carl Albert State College signee, reached base once via a walk out of her three plate appearances as the Small East beat the Small West 11-2. The game was originally scheduled to be played at the University of Oklahoma, but OU’s field was too wet.
