Sky Zone/Bass Pro Shop Adventure with my sixth-grade Bandit team

November 21, 2014

I took my sixth-grade Bi-State Bandit League football team Saturday to Tulsa for its “end-of-the-year party.” I’ve had some of these kids for four years, and I really wanted to do something special for them.
We left Poteau at 9 a.m. and went to Muldrow, since half of them were playing Stilwell for the Pansy Middle School Raiders in the Muldrow Tournament at 10 a.m. that morning.
After the game, we headed out for Tulsa and got there by 1 p.m. The first stop was Sky Zone indoor trampoline park on 61st Street.

Although the 2014 season did not get to the same point as last year, the Pirates still made the playoffs and had a winning season — their third in as many seasons under coach Greg Werner.

Editor’s note: No preseason information has been received on the Arkoma Mustangs. Once it has, as well as preseason information on other LeFlore County teams AND their season openers get closer, season preview stories on those teams will be published.

November 20, 2014

Last season, the Talihina Golden Tigers football team got to the Class A state semifinals before losing its only game of 2013 to Ringling to miss out by a win of playing for the gold ball.
This year, Talihina senior quarterback Alan Lockhart and senior linebacker Logan Hillebrand are doing their part to help the Golden Tigers make another deep playoff run this season.
