Abandoned house fire

Poteau firefighters had a late night Tuesday after a home on the corner of South
Walters Street and Conser Avenue burst into flames. According to Poteau Fire Chief
Jon Pickel the Poteau Fire Department responded to the blaze at approximately 11
p.m. and remained on scene until approximately 3:30 p.m. The house was reported
as unoccupied and firefighters on the scene said that the abandoned home was
quickly engulfed in flame. Firefighters kept the fire from spreading, but Chief
Pickel says that the home was a total loss. The cause of the inferno is as of yet undetermined.
