Anna Mae “Tootie” Alfred

Anna Mae “Tootie” Alfred, 87, of Poteau died Aug. 29, 2014, in Tulsa. Tootie was preceded in death by her husband, James Alfred of Poteau; her parents, Steve Sr. and Letha Garrett of Poteau; sister, Alma Taylor of Wilburton and brother, Steve Garrett Jr. of Poteau. Tootie, a lifetime resident of Poteau, was a homemaker. She was known for her beautiful table settings, her apricot brandy cake and her dependability when a friend was sick. Tootie loved a cold beer on a hot day, a good tenor voice and the Oklahoma Sooners. Her family celebrates her long, independent life.
Tootie is survived by her son, Jim Alfred, daughter-in-law, Paula Alfred, and granddaughter, Sarah Alfred, all of whom reside in Tulsa. Tootie is also survived by her two nieces, Kathy Cook of Bethany and Lynda Garrett of Tulsa; great-nieces Kadie Cook-Goldstein of Tulsa and Kalie Cook of Stillwater; other relatives, loved ones and friends.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, at Evans Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Jim Cook officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. 
Evans and Miller Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
