Another District C-4 showdown for Arkoma Mustangs — this week, it's Webbers Falls Warriors

October 19, 2011

Last week, the Arkoma Mustangs, although slow starting, pulled away from the Midway Chargers to end up mercy ruling them 86-36 last Friday night at home in a battle of District C-4 heavyweights.
“It was back and forth,” Arkoma Coach Mark Weatherton said. “They were stuffing it down our throats. It was only 30-28 in the second quarter, and I was nervous. We then reeled off 42 straight points, and then I felt better. We played a good game, and it was nice to get a big win like that over a pretty good team.”
Now, the Mustangs (7-0, 4-0 in district play), ranked eighth in the Class C Poll, will play the other district heavyweight, the Webbers Falls Warriors (6-1, 4-0), ranked seventh, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday night in Webbers Falls.
“It's the only two undefeated teams of the district,” Weatherton said. “I told the kids that this is for the district championship. It's two unbeaten teams in the district, and two pretty good teams. It ought to be a big crowd on both sides, since we're less than a hundred miles apart. It should be some exciting football.”
