Area flooding washes away bridges, roads; several people trapped in their homes.

According to Michael Davidson, emergency management director,significant flooding has occurred overnight in areas of central and southern LeFlore County. Some areas received over 6” of rain fall in storms that were slow moving or training over the same general area, said Davidson.
Davidson said flash flooding has caused damages to several county roads, bridges, and culverts in the Haw Creek, Hontubby, Lovings, Page, and Reichert-Summerfield areas. Several roads are still impassable at this time due to high water and/or damages and have been barricaded and closed by the county road department.
Several homes in the Hontubby and Haw Creek areas have been inundated with water, at this time all persons are safe and accounted for and no injuries have been reported, said Davidson.
