Arkoma football team seeks .500 record with Friday night win over Webbers Falls
After the Arkoma Mustangs football team lost its District C-4 contest to district-leading Thackerville on Oct. 18 at Mustang Field, any playoff hopes were dashed. However, there was still a shot at a .500 record for the 2012 season. After the Mustangs (4-5 overall, 2-4 in district play) won last week on Senior Night 54-8 over Southwest Christian, they can achieve that goal with a win Friday night in the regular-season finale at Webbers Falls. Kickoff for the District C-4 game is 7:30 p.m.“It's definitely made practice easier this week to have that sitting there, where we can go .500 and to not have a losing season,” said Mark Weatherton, Arkoma's coach. “That was a big part of the win, keeping that hope alive. We had a good practice [Tuesday]. I feel like we're going to go play well.”Editor's note — Bokoshe's game will not take place against Southwest Covenant as the Tigers will have to forfeit the game due to lack of players.— — —District C-4 StandingsTeam District Overall +/-Thackerville-x 6-0 6-2 +77SW Covenant-y 5-2 6-3 +19Webbers Falls-y 4-2 6-2 +43Sasakwa 4-2 5-3 +17Maud 3-3 5-3 -10Arkoma 2-4 4-5 -37Midway 1-5 1-7 -53Bokoshe-z 0-7 1-8 -66x — Clinched district title.y — Clinched playoff berth.z — Denotes Friday night's forfeit.— — —To get there — Take Oklahoma State Highway 9A west to Oklahoma State Highway 9.
