Arkoma has no football game tonight; Boulevard Christian Patriots cancel

October 17, 2013

The Arkoma Mustangs were looking to extend their winning streak to four games tonight with a home non-district game against the Boulevard Christian Patriots at Mustang Field. Instead, the locals will have an open date as the Patriots have canceled due to lack of players.
“It kind of worried me when they called us and said that they only had nine players the game before they played Bokoshe [which beat the Patriots last week 54-6],” Arkoma coach Mark Weatherton said. “I guess they got some banged up in that game, and the same thing happened last week against Bokoshe.”
So, the Mustangs (4-2, 3-1 in District C-4) will have a week off before a district showdown at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 25 against the fourth-ranked Thackerville Wildcats at Thackerville's Wildcat Stadium. So, in some way, Weatherton welcomes the off week.
