Arkoma loses District C-4 heartbreaker on road to Maud

September 22, 2013

MAUD — A last-second 100-plus yard interception return by Maud lifted the Tigers to a 43-42 come-from-behind win over the Arkoma Mustangs in a thrilling District C-4 contest, and heartbreaking loss for the Mustangs.
The Mustangs had a 42-35 lead late in the final period after a score and Tyree Nolden's two-point conversion, but the Tigers picked off an Ethann Gates pass in the end zone and went the distance within the final 30 seconds of regulation to snatch the win away from Arkoma.
“It was an exciting and unbelievable ball game,” Arkoma coach Mark Weatherton said. “We played hard and pretty good, but we didn't pull it out in the end.”
