Arkoma Mustangs using Friday night's game as tune-up for next week's Webbers Falls contest

October 29, 2013

With the biggest game for the Arkoma Mustangs football team coming up on Nov. 8 on Senior Night at Mustang Field, the locals are using this Friday night's non-district road game with Wright Christian in Tulsa as a tune-up for that regular-season finale.
“We're definitely wanting to play a lot of our kids, and get as many offensive and defensive reps as we can — because next week is our big game against Webbers Falls,” Arkoma coach Mark Weatherton said about Friday night's 7 p.m. contest. “We can either be the No. 2 seed, the No. 3 seed, the No. 4 seed or totally be out of the playoffs depending on that outcome.”
The reason there will be so much riding on the Webbers Falls game is the Mustangs suffered a 66-22 loss to Class C's fourth-ranked Thackerville Wildcats last week — in a game they were only down 26-22 before surrendering 40 second-half points.
