Arkoma Mustangs win first-ever playoff game; Mustangs head west to Shattuck next week

November 17, 2013

ARKOMA — Leading 54-24 at intermission, the Arkoma Mustangs scored two quick third-quarter touchdowns to invoke the 45-point mercy rule and record their first-ever playoff win with a 70-24 victory over the Timberlake Tigers on Friday night at Mustang Field in a Class C opening-round playoff game.
The Mustangs (7-3) will be in a quarterfinal game against Class C's fourth-ranked Shattuck Indians, who mercy ruled Grandfield 48-0 Friday night, at 7:30 p.m. next Friday in Shattuck — located about 20 miles west of Woodward in far western Oklahoma.
