Arkoma opens home football season against Maud Friday night

September 12, 2012

The good news is the Arkoma Mustangs football team will finally get a home game, after opening the season on the road for the first two weeks.
“We're excited to be playing at home,” said Mark Weatherton, Arkoma's coach. “We're looking forward to Friday night, especially after the way we played against Bokoshe.”
However, it's not the easiest of home openers — not at all, since it's against the Maud Tigers. Kickoff for the District C-4 game is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday at Mustang Field.
“It's not the way you want to open your home season,” Weatherton said about the Tigers. “You would like to have someone who isn't as strong. They're so good. Right now, I'd have to say the team to beat in the district (C-4) is Maud. They're quarterback is a great athlete. They have a great group of players. They have good speed and good size.”
