ARKOMA — It was a historic late afternoon and night on Monday at the Arkoma Gym as the first-ever Green Valley Conference Tournament got underway.
The host Lady Mustangs and the Panama Lady Razorbacks, along with the Keota Lady Lions, got the first wins of the newly-formed event.
Arkoma held off a fourth-quarter furious rally by the Wister Lady Wildcats to win 58-55, while Panama beat the Cameron Lady Yellowjackets for the second time in three days in a 35-22 victory. Keota knocked off McCurtain 70-58 as the Howe Lady Lions received a first-round bye.

After taking today off, the tournament will resume with girls action. The championship semifinals will have Howe facing Keota at 6:30 p.m. in a battle of Lady Lions, followed by Arkoma and Panama playing at 8 p.m.
Action will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday as Cameron and Wister will play in the consolation semfinals, with the winner meeting McCurtain for the consolation championship at noon Saturday. The Cameron-Wister loser will be eliminated from the tournament.
