Arkoma receiver makes East All-State teams; Sweeten becomes first Mustang to make OCA All-State Team

January 3, 2014

The 2013 high school football season was a historic one for the Arkoma Mustangs as they won their first-ever playoff game, a 70-24 rout of the Timberlake Tigers on Nov. 15 at Mustang Field in the opening round of the Class C playoffs. Now, one more piece of history can be added to the record books.
Senior wide receiver Tanner Sweeten was not only named to the 8-Man All-State East Team, but he was also the first Arkoma player to ever be named to the Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State East Team.
Sweeten, who was the District C-4 Offensive Player of the Year, had 1,700 receiving yards and 24 touchdowns for the Mustangs, who were 7-4 last season and 5-2 in the district — where they were runners-up to district champion Thackerville.
