Arkoma returns to District C-4 play, entertains Bluejacket

September 23, 2011

Yes, the Arkoma Mustangs are undefeated at 3-0, and ranked seventh in the Class C Poll. Yes, they won 26-18 over Southwest Christian Academy last week in Norman. But they may not have played their best football game in that win.
Thus, last week's game may have been a wake-up call of sorts for the Mustangs.
“I really think it was frustation at the way they played,” Arkoma Coach Mark Weatherton said. “They were disappointed with their effort and their execution on offense and defense.”
Now, the Mustangs return to District C-4 play as they welcome the Bluejacket Chieftains to town for a 7:30 p.m. contest tonight.
“I told the kids that every district game from here out is for the district championship,” Weatherton said. “If we give a game away, it's going to cost us. This is the most important game of the season.”
