Arkoma welcomes Midway for big District C-4 showdown tonight

October 14, 2011

The Arkoma Mustangs football team is in the driver's seat in District C-4, but the road is about ready to be lined with some speed bumps.
“There's still three teams there — Midway, Webbers Falls and us — who are still undefeated in the district,” Arkoma Coach Mark Weatherton said. “We'll be playing among us for the next couple of weeks. It's a big game for us. I think if we win this one, we'll have a good chance to host a playoff game. It ought to be a great football game with a large crowd — for a Class C game.”
The Mustangs (6-0, 3-0 in district play), ranked eighth in the Class C Poll, will welcome the Midway Chargers (4-1, 4-0) to town for a crucial contest.
“They have a good football team,” Weatherton said. “They're big. They average 350 pounds from end to end (on the line). They want to pound the ball right at you. If they pound the ball on us and keep the ball for about eight minutes, it's going to be hard for us to outscore them.”'
