Arson suspected in police department fire

January 6, 2014

Hogeye Fire Department, Pocola Police Department and members of the Rock Island police converge on the Rock Island Police Department Sunday evening after it was reported the building was on fire.

Arson is suspected in a fire that damaged a small part of the Rock Island Police Department Sunday evening.
According to Oklahoma Fire Marshal Investigator Tony Rust, it appears an ignitable fluid was splashed on the northeast corner of the building. Rust said a passerby noticed the fire and notified authorities.
The Hogeye Fire Department responded to the fire but according to first responders, the fire had gone out before their arrival.
The building, which is constructed out of metal, sustained about $2,500 in damage, according to Rust.
