Attempted kidnapping report a hoax, police say

Poteau police say a reported kidnapping attempt was false and called off their manhunt Thursday.

Poteau police called off a manhunt for a would-be kidnapper Thursday after the alleged victim admitted lying about the incident.
Poteau Chief of Police Stephen Fruen said he wanted the public to be aware of the hoax and feel safe on city streets.
