The Poteau City League championship games, a.k.a. “The Bandit Bowl,” will take place beginning at noon at Costner Stadium. The third-fourth grade game will begin at noon, followed by the fifth-sixth grade contest at approximately 1:30 p.m.
The third-fourth grade Bandit Bowl will pit the Bombers against the Bears. The Bombers edged the Cowboys 6-0 in overtime last week, while the Bears outlasted the Panthers 26-19 as they broke a 19-all tie with a score with 44 seconds left.
It could be a sweep of sorts for the Bears as the fifth-sixth grade Bears will meet the Boomers in the older kids' Bandit Bowl game. The Bears reached Saturday's title game by blanking the Jolly Rogers 22-0, while the Boomers won their semifinal 8-6 over the Pirates.
Landon “Hammy” Daily will be the public-address announcer for the games.
I just love watching these pee-wee football games. If you can, come out for some great football action and a good time. I'm sure they'll have my favorite Frito chili pies in the concession stand, then I'll have a caramel-fudge butter pecan sundae. What an afternoon!
Go Poteau, beat Tulsa Rogers.
Good luck fifth-grade and third-grade Bandit League teams in your playoff games Saturday.
Go Pokes, beat Kansas State.
Save the world — recycle.
God bless our troops and veterans.
Have a great weekend.
