Barbara M. Walker

Barbara M. Walker, 68, of Pampa, Texas, formerly of Poteau, died Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, in Pampa. Barbara was born Sept. 27, 1945, in Canadian, Texas, to Lewis and Bessie (McReynolds) Mathews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Muriel Gene Walker, on March 21, 2010. Barbara met and married Muriel in California where they managed El Corona Apartments. After moving to Oklahoma, Barbara graduated from Carl Albert Junior College in 1985, majoring in auto mechanics. She worked for EXIDE/Interstate Batteries where she was supervisor of the battery department. She traveled throughout the United States working for them, living in many different places. She began working for Engine Parts and Supply in Pampa in 2000 for Tammy Maple, who became a close friend. She retired from there in 2011. 
Survivors include her stepson, Greg Walker and wife Pam of Poteau; aunt, Christine Harris of Poteau; niece, Linda Galbraith and husband Bruce of Dallas, nephews, Tommy Lewis Adams of Pampa, Carrol Wayne Bentley of Amarillo, Texas; other relatives and loved ones; many beloved friends.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at Oakland Cemetery Pavilion, Poteau, with the Rev. Phil McGehee officiating.
Evans and Miller Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
