Baseball, bow season and the youth season

October 10, 2013

Bow season is in full swing now and I have actually got to sit in a stand a couple of times. However, all I have seen so far is a big ol' coon and a coyote. The good thing is that I enjoyed the peace and quiet of the woods and the wildlife that I got to see.

The Wister Wildcats baseball team had a good Class A Regional Tournament last Thursday and Friday at Stokes Field in Byng, even though they fell a little short of the state tournament. The first game was against the No. 1 team in the state, Byng.
Wister was ranked No. 20, and most people didn’t give the ’Cats much of a chance. These boys have played a lot of games and handle pressure situations pretty well. They played a good game and Jake Sconyers threw a two-hitter to beat Byng 3-0.
The next game was against No. 6 Latta, and they lost 3-1 even though Scotty Gibson threw a pretty good game giving up four hits.
The next game was against No. 11 Tushka, and they fell just short getting beat 7-4. I am really proud of these boys, and I think there are several good years to come.
Have a great week!
