The 'Bell' tolls for Blake

NORMAN — So much for a quarterback controversy at the University of Oklahoma. Junior Blake Bell took over in the fourth quarter last week against West Virginia as red-shirt freshman Trevor Knight was struggling and got the nod to make his first-ever start against Tulsa in Saturday's game at Owen Field. Bell threw for a record 413 yards and four touchdowns as the Sooners rolled to a 51-20 victory over the Golden Hurricanes.
The defense had given up only seven points on the season coming into the game, and there was little question as to the fact that they would be better than last year. However, the offense has struggled in their first two games, scoring 51 points total. That was matched in Saturday’s game as OU scored on its first five possessions and was never really threatened.
