Local firefighters and other emergency responders will host a fundraiser for Poteau Fire Department Capt. Don Goforth on Thursday [July 13, 2017] at the Tower Drive-In.

Goforth, 35, is scheduled to undergo his third brain surgery on Wednesday at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

The fundraiser will help the family with costs involved in followup trips to and from Houston, said fellow firefighter Jake Thompson.

The benefit event will start at 5 p.m. with bounce arounds and emergency vehicles for kids to see. Poteau Police and fire departments an LeFlore County EMS are expected to participate.

“Spiderman: Homecoming” will be shown at the drive-in at dark. Admission will be $4 for kids and $7 for adults, with all proceeds going to the Goforth family, Thompson said.

Hotdogs and hamburgers will be available for purchase as well.

Goforth and his wife, Cassie, have a son, Kaddon, and daughter, Kylie.
