Black and orange, yea!

October 31, 2013

There are several teams I could never cheer for — Russia, Oklahoma State, the Dallas Cowboys, Spiro and Sallisaw. However, wait for a minute. For the next two weeks, I am going on a crash course on the lyrics for the Black Diamonds' fight song.
For these next two weeks, I am going to be a Black Diamond fan. The only way for the Pirates to finish with the top seed in District 4A-4 is a three-way tie for the top spot in the district with Poteau, Tulsa Cascia Hall and Sallisaw.
Here is what I understand. Since Poteau and Cascia Hall will be playing the two bottom teams in the league, the key to the finishing order will switch to the Sallisaw-Fort Gibson game on Nov. 8. If the Tigers beat the Black Diamonds, Cascia Hall would be first, Poteau would be second, Fort Gibson would be third and Sallisaw would finish fourth — assuming that Poteau and Cascia Hall end the season with wins over Broken Bow and Tulsa Rogers.
