Blood drives slated for next week

August 7, 2013

Poteau fire department and law enforcement staffs are asking all area residents to come to the Guns ‘N Hoses blood drive with Oklahoma Blood Institute from noon to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, and 1:15-6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Center.
A separate blood drive will be held from 8:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Aug. 14 at Choctaw Nation Healthcare in Talihina. Two tickets to the Tulsa Zoo and a summer T-shirt will be presented to each donor.
To fuel a little healthy competition in Poteau, donors will choose which department to support by donating on behalf of law enforcement or the fire department.
Donors will receive a voucher, redeemable for two tickets to the Tulsa Zoo and this year’s Guns ‘N Hoses T-shirt. Health screenings and Donor Rewards points, redeemable in OBI’s online store, are also provided.
Anyone who is healthy and 16 years of age can donate, and donations can be made every 56 days.
Oklahoma Blood Institute is the eighth largest, non-profit blood center in America, providing every drop of blood needed by patients in more than 135 medical facilities across Oklahoma.
