BOKOSHE â Most LeFlore County football teams had to endure a weather delay when last Friday night's rainstorms moved through the area. The Arkoma-Bokoshe game last week was no exception.
However, when the storm passed, it seemed like only the Mustangs were prepared to play football as they blanked the Tigers 48-0.
âI don't know if it was the (weather) delay or what,â said Tyler Massey, Bokoshe's second-year coach. âThey (the Mustangs) were here, too, so they had to wait it out like we did. They came out ready to play, and we didn't.â
Now, the Tigers (0-2, 0-1 in District C-4) will hit the road for the first time as they will meet the Sasakwa Vikings at 7:30 p.m. tonight in Sasakwa.
Massey is more interested in seeing how his team responds to last week's defeat than what the Vikings (1-1) â winners of their season opener 52-6 over Macomb and losers of their District C-4 opener 49-18 to Southwest Covenant last Friday in Yukon â can do. The Tigers will have to do so with a limited number of players due to injuries.
âI'm not so much worried about what they do,â Massey said. âI've got a little bit of film on them. My main deal is that I lost my quarterback (Randy Collins) and our kids who played cornerback and back-up tailback. So, I'm basically winging it this week because we're short-handed. We'll be even more shorthanded (tonight) than we were last week. I'm having to put in some new stuff, and do some different things. We're going to be shooting from the hip by going with something completely different this week. We'll see how it works.â
To Get There â Take Oklahoma State Highway 31 west to McAlester. Take U.S. Highway 270 west to Wewoka. Take Oklahoma State Highway 56 south to Sasakwa.
